AFBA Launches Amid Growing Focus on Australia’s Fuel Security
The Australian Fuel Buyers Association (AFBA) has today been launched. AFBA is a national industry body representing independent, rural and regional fuel buyers across Australia.
AFBA works to support a more resilient, competitive and secure fuel supply sector, with a focus on the practical challenges affecting independent fuel buyers, including supply access, logistics, storage and long-term fuel security.
AFBA Executive Director Jessica Yu said Australia’s fuel supply chain required stronger engagement with independent operators and regional stakeholders.
“Independent fuel buyers play an important role in supporting regional communities, freight networks and economic activity across Australia,” Ms Yu said.
“There is growing recognition that fuel security is not simply an industry issue. It is a national resilience issue.”
Ms Yu said AFBA would engage constructively with government, industry participants and supply chain stakeholders to support practical policy outcomes and strengthen supply continuity across the sector.
“Australia’s fuel market is evolving rapidly, particularly as pressure grows around supply resilience, infrastructure capacity and long-term energy security,” she said.
“AFBA has been established to ensure independent, rural and regional fuel buyers have a stronger voice in those conversations.”
Ms Yu brings more than a decade of experience across state and federal government, industry associations and the private sector. Her background includes working for a former Australian Prime Minister, leading government relations for an industry association and working within the Government Relations team at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
AFBA will focus on industry engagement, policy advocacy and supporting measures that strengthen Australia’s fuel supply capability, competition and regional supply resilience.
